# About — Paulo Chang

## Background

I've been a backend developer for more than ten years, most of it on large Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) platforms built with Java, JCR, Apache Sling and OSGi. That's still my day job as a senior engineer at Cognizant Netcentric. I'm also the Backend Community AI Champion there, which means I built and look after an internal marketplace of AI tools for our backend engineers, and I plan and run the training sessions that get people actually using them. Since I still do the regular engineering work, I run into the same problems as the people I'm training.

Before that I was the technical co-founder of a small startup. I made all the technical decisions and took our SaaS product from prototype to production.

## What I'm doing now

### AI adoption & enablement

I'm the main author of the AI tooling marketplace our backend engineers use, and I run both the onboarding sessions and the more in-depth ones that go with it.

### Senior AEM engineering

I'm the only senior developer on a large AEM platform. That covers the PIM integration, product and parts filtering, a Jackrabbit Oak search index migration, dispatcher and release work, and localization.

### Platform health

The less visible side of the job: tuning the dispatcher and caches, fixing concurrency and thread-safety bugs, looking after CI/CD and build tooling, and running repository and index migrations so large systems keep working.
